Life’s challenges provide each and every one of us with the opportunity to change.
Often, change is not easy. Many times only when the pain of remaining the same outweighs the perceived pain of change will we embrace change.
And yet, change is at the very heart of growth.
Within a safe environment, therapy provides the tools to tap into as yet undiscovered areas of ourselves, providing understanding and compassion. We come to know ourselves, and through this process of knowing, we deepen our connection with ourselves. A deeper connection with self leads toward self-improvement and personal growth. Our ability to deepen connections will also inevitably influence our relationships with others.
Management of our emotional states through insight and understanding allows for a deeper sense of safety and opens the gateway to self-compassion and love.
These psychological and emotional changes also serve to enhance our physical functioning. There is a growing awareness of the impact our emotional state has on the physical body. Regardless of the emotional state, the physical body will respond. Painful emotional states, such as fear, anxiety, shame, disgust, sadness, despair and guilt can have a negative impact on physical functioning. While emotional states of happiness, joy, peace, and contentment can have a positive impact on the way we physically feel. Further, feeling connected to others in a healthy way diminishes the stress response leading to a greater sense of well-being and improved health.

begins with a single step.”

Is now a time for change?
